Increase Facebook Engagement

I recently read an article called “8 Ways to Increase Facebook Page Engagement” written by Mark Walker-Ford. If you are looking for ways to get more engagement (likes, shares, and comments) on your Facebook posts, this is an article for you. Read the full article here: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/8-ways-to-increase-facebook-page-engagement-infographic/572027/. Walker-Ford brings up eight ways to increase your Facebook page engagement:

  1. Post native videos directly to Facebook
  2. Optimize your videos & create video playlists
  3. Go live
  4. Look to Facebook insights for data you can use
  5. Post exclusive content
  6. Interact & engage meaningfully
  7. Make the most of user-generated content
  8. Use cinemagraphs

While I found all of these helpful, there were a few that caught my interest a little more than the rest: #3 Go live, #4 Look to Facebook insights, and #7 Make the most of user-generated content. I will go into these three a little bit more in dept.

First out, #3 Go live. Going live is getting more popular, and after reading this article, I understand why. Walker-Ford explains how going live is a recipe for engagement. When you go live, your video will shoot to the top of your followers’ Facebook news feed. Additionally, Facebook will send out a notification to people that are frequently or recently engaging with your page to let them know you are going live. Great reasons to use the live video feature more! I also think letting people be a part of something live rather than watching it after it happened makes them feel special and exclusive, which is another reason for using live videos in your marketing.

Secondly, #4 Look to Facebook insights for data you can use. The article says you should look over your Facebook insights at least once a month to take note of what content your audience engage most with. Then, you use this data to plan your future content. When I am now starting to learn more about social media marketing, I appreciate strategic tips like these. As I mentioned in an earlier blogpost, I recently started both a marketing internship and a social movement project in school where we are using social media platforms to grow our movement. Tools like Facebook insights will definitely come in handy as I continue my marketing career.

Finally, #7 Make the most of user-generated content. The article states “Wherever, whenever a user tags, mentions, reviews or writes about your brand in a positive way, get the most mileage out of that content”. Again, I think this is helpful for my internship and me and my groups social movement. We recently had a few stories from people promoting our social movement, but we never took advantage of the chance to “get the most mileage out of that content” since we did not put it on our stories. But in the future, I will make sure we do!

Again, if you are interested in getting to learn more in depth about all eight tips, use the link in the beginning of the post to get to the article. Happy reading!
